Nottingham born, London based, Heavyball are a self titled 'new tone' band. Heavyball is fronted by Bigface on guitar and vocals with his brother Habs on drums and best mate Johnny Iball on bass. 2014 saw them joined by Tom 'Stone Cold' Frost on lead guitar.

After supporting both the Kaiser Chiefs and The Selecter in 2014 the band turned their attention to Europe and have headlined their own shows in Nuremberg, Prague, Netherlands, Paris, Switzerland and Vienna.

Heavyball’s sound is a modern interpretation of two tone, mod, rock and ska. Influences include Viz, Shane Meadows and the story writing traditions of country and western; they call it ‘new tone’. Disguised beneath uplifting beats, driving percussion and distinctive melodies are topics such as Operation Yewtree, PTSD, war in Afghanistan and suicide in Skegness.

Heavyball’s recordings have been championed by DJs; BBC6 Music’s Chris Hawkins and Tom Robinson, BBC London’s Gary Crowley, BBC Ulster’s late Gerry Anderson, Absolute Radio’s Frank Skinner, BBC Introducing’s Dean Jackson and a personal endorsement from Jimmy Somerville for their unique interpretation of his classic 80s hit Smalltown Boy.

“It’s the best cover version of 'Smalltown Boy I’ve ever heard” -Jimmy Somerville
